The SCPD Alumni Association
Inc., a Florida non-profit
corporation was formed in 1989. It
was spawned from the Suffolk County
Police retiree's "Florida Sunshine
Club". Its primary focus is the
networking of it's members, sponsor
and promote retiree social events
nationally and to provide a vehicle
for communication of information for
retired members of Law Enforcement
personnel who served in Suffolk
County. All retirees can apply for
membership without costs. Regular
members who receive newsletters and
other benefits are assessed a modest
annual membership fee of $10.00.
The SCPD Alumni Association,
additionally, awards college
scholarships annually including the
John L & Elizabeth Barry Memorial
Scholarship. Scholarship applicants
include children, grandchildren and
great grandchildren of its regular
members. The organization
communications methods include:
Alumni Newsletter, website at
www.suffolkcountypolicealumni.org
or scpdalumni.com,
Message phone 352-596-6220 and P.O.
Box 5998 Spring Hill, FL
34611. During 2009, the SCPD Alumni
has upgraded its website to include
additional communication tools. The
SCPD Alumni is recognized and
supported by most Suffolk County
Police and Law Enforcement oriented
organizations.
One of the
Alumni's most important objectives
is to maintain an accurate
membership list of retirees. This
list is made available to authorized
members and appropriate line
organizations. It is not permitted
to be released or used for any other
purpose. It is also the vehicle for
announcements of important retiree
information and Alumni gatherings
and events. The Board of Directors
and staff members are all volunteers
and serve without any compensation.
Member's immediate family members
and selected Associated Businesses
can advertise in the Alumni
newsletter and website.
